Road Surfacing Specialists

Sheffield Surfacing has 25+ years of experience in road surfaces, making us one of the most highly regarded, independent resurfacing companies in the UK. Whether you’re looking for asphalt resurfacing or a tarmac resurfacing company, you can be sure that Sheffield Surfacing carry out every project to the highest standards and specifications.

Our Road Surfacing Services

Our surfacing services cover a wide range of projects for both private and public sector clients. From pothole patching to highway resurfacing, we can provide the full package no matter your requirements. Our services include:

Schools And Playgrounds

The surface of a school and playground needs to be even and safe. No one wants to see their little one get injured due to a poorly maintained surface. With Sheffield Surfacing, we will resurface the area by working closely with you to determine the best course of action – usually within school holidays.

Footpaths And Cyclepaths

Footpaths and cyclepaths sometimes tend to get neglected, as roads are viewed as more important. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Users of footpaths and cyclelanes need and deserve smooth, pothole-free surfaces, just as much as road users do. We will resurface these paths with the chosen materials and aim to create the least amount of disruptions as possible.

Large Commercial And Domestic Driveways

Not only do we surface roads and pathways, but we can also service driveways too. Commercial and domestic driveways are just as important as roads or car parks. An uneven surface can be dangerous and can cause damage to vehicles and users. Choose Sheffield Surfacing to complete your project, knowing we will provide a high-quality service within your budget.

What is the difference between road surfacing & road dressing?

Surface dressing involves treating roads that are in relatively good condition with preventative treatments to maintain them in good working condition for longer.  Resurfacing, on the other hand, involves more extensive structural work, where part of the worn-out road surface is removed and replaced with new material. This is the approach used when the road is too damaged for remedial surface dressing work.

What Are The Benefits of Road Surfacing Maintenance?

Road surfacing is an important task, no matter the size or scale of the road. Both dressing and resurfacing projects ensure the working order of our roads and transport network. By hiring a road surfacing contractor, you will benefit from:

  • Improved road appearance: Reducing complaints from residents and workers
  • A smoother journey for all: Decreases wear and tear of all vehicles and reduces accidents.
  • Prevents further damage: Maintaining roads ensures damage is rectified quickly, reducing overall maintenance costs.

How Often Should A Road Be Resurfaced Or Dressed?

A road typically needs resurfacing or dressing every 10-15 years. This is applied to the top layer of the road, where most of the damage will be. A full road replacement, such as a tarmac road, is usually only required after several decades, depending on the state of the surface.

When Can I Drive On The New Road Surface?

The time you have to wait until you can drive on the new surface will depend on the material it is made of. For example, with asphalt, it is typically safe to drive on it within the same day. However, tarmac takes longer to cure. For this reason, tarmac can be walked upon within 24-48 hours, but should not be driven on until after 7 days.
